Scotties are typically independent personality dogs who are extremely loyal, but can sometimes act aloof. We are generally not overly affectionate dogs who are all over our owners, seeking attention.
Occasionally though, my breeder, Jim Cantrell of Cantrell’s Scots of Ohio, describes a puppy as a “snuggler” in a puppy personality profile and Wen has decided that the term “snuggler” fits me as well. When I see that she is sitting on the couch, I like to jump up by her and scooch up right next to her, which according to Wen, qualifies me as a “snuggler.”
Of all her past dogs, there has only been one who liked to snuggle and it was Buffy, her cocker spaniel, who lived to jump up on people’s laps and snuggle, which is normal affectionate cocker spaniel behavior. Then, years later, I came along and broke the Scottie mold of sitting just beyond reach. Hey, wanna snuggle?

Wanna snuggle?
