My sister, Sunny, has developed a habit. Whenever she wants to go outside, she starts to whimper and her whimpering becomes louder and more intense until Wen opens the patio door.
Sunny knows that the Milkbone treat jar is on the counter next to the door and she also knows that Wen sometimes gives us all a treat when we come back inside.
Most of the time, Sunny really needs to go outside, but recently she has whimpered to go outside, made a u-turn on the deck, and come right back inside to stand next to where the treat jar is. In other words, she doesn’t have to go outside—she just wants a treat.
Sunny’s con game worked well a few times until there was a glitch: Wen caught on to her plan and she now stands at the door to make sure that Sunny actually goes outside on the grass.
Nice try though, Sunny. Your con game paid off for all of us Scotties for a little while!
Sunny: I want a treat!
