We Scotties were (literally) treated to a big surprise. Since we are enjoying Wen’s presence all the time, due to the current stay at home order, because of the coronavirus pandemic, we all have experienced times when we needed a pick me up activity. The weather has alternated between springtime temperatures and snow days and when the weather has been cold and snowy, we Scotties have spent a lot of time on the couch or in front of the fireplace, so Wen came up with something to keep us busy and more active. She was reorganizing the pantry in the kitchen one day and hidden behind a stack of dog items on a shelf were three giant Kong toys that we have had for several years, but they were totally forgotten.
These huge Kongs come apart, so they can be loaded with treats and when Wen filled one with goodies and rattled it to let us know there were treats inside before she put it down on the floor, all three of us came running.
As soon as the Kong hit the floor, there was a mad dash to knock it around so that the treats popped out the hole and I have to say that I was the best one of us three to smack and spin the Kong with my paw so that we were rewarded with Milk-Bones.
Being tenacious terriers, we kept after the Kong until we had eaten all of the treats. Wen hadn’t seen that much indoor action out of us in a long time, so she has filled it with treats for us every day. I really believe that giant Kong may be my favorite toy for now and even after we empty it out, I like to stand by it to stake my claim. Since we only get to play with one Kong at a time so far, I am guarding it with my life!
