He’s Baaaaack!

That darn old squirrel was running across the top of our fence again this morning.  As soon as Molly spotted him, she took out running, because she loves to chase that squirrel. Every time he sees Molly coming though, the squirrel jumps up onto tree branches, so there’s no chance that she can get close, but that doesn’t prevent her from trying.

Just when the squirrel hasn’t been around for a couple of days and we think he’s gone for good, he’s baaaaack and there goes Molly!

A Scottie Rhyme

Here we be, as you can see, your favorite Scotties, one, two, three.

We’ll always be your loyal pals, your Scottie guy and little gals.

Now never fear, your Scots are here.  Just call our names and we’ll appear.

So how’s about something to eat, ’cause we would love a yummy treat!

Soaking Up the Sun

We Scotties like to seek out sunny spots.  Whenever the sun comes in through our bedroom window, at least one of us can be found soaking up the warmth.  After all, what is more relaxing than soaking up the sun?!

All Mine!

Out of the three of us Scotties, I am the least interested in our dog toys.  Wen buys us an assortment of toys to chew on and play with and I usually ignore them (with the exception of the plush toys with plastic bottles inside that I can crunch–those I love).  On the other hand, Sadie seems to be fascinated with practically every toy and Molly has her favorite chew toys.

Lately, Wen has been putting toys in our dog bed in the living room when she straightens up the room and Sadie and Molly drag them out one at a time.  Today, however, I went and sat in the dog bed and staked my claim on all the toys that were there.  For once, they were all mine!  Well, for a few minutes anyway!

Wanna Snuggle?

My sister, Sadie, is not shy about wanting attention.  Not only is she an “in your face” kind of dog, but she’s a “lick your face” kind of dog.  Actually, she’s so affectionate with people that she constantly gives kisses.

I like to snuggle when Wen is sitting on the couch, but first I give a questioning look to get permission.  Sadie, on the other hand, jumps right up and settles herself in immediately and she’s definitely not bashful or hesitant when she flops down right next to you.  Sadie doesn’t ask if you wanna snuggle–she just assumes that you do!

Lego Project Supervisor

I have a new title:  Lego Project Supervisor.  Recently, the pandemic boredom must have set in, because Wen has become interested in Legos and she built several Lego projects after never having picked up a Lego before in her entire life.  When she sits at the dining room table with her piles of Legos, I like to keep her company by hanging out close by, so she calls me the supervisor.  It may be an unusual title, but hey, I’ll take it!

A Beach Alternative

I am so ready to hit the beach!  It’s summer, it’s hot, and a trip to the beach sounds perfect!  Wait a minute–we live in Colorado and it’s a landlocked state, so there’s no real beaches?   Okay, I need a beach alternative.  Could you possibly turn on the backyard hose so we Scotties could chase the spray?

Scottie Mind Meld

Sometimes we Scotties appear to be trying to put a mind meld on Wen.  Actually, we are just staring, but if we stare hard enough, we can look as though we are trying to transfer our thoughts.

If we were truly trying to transfer thoughts, what would they probably be?  Most likely about our favorite thing:  food!

Molly mind meld: open the treat jar, open the treat jar….

Scottish Terrier Dreamin’

The Rocky Mountain Scottish Terrier Club has a newsletter that is called the Scottie Scuttlebutt.  Wen submitted an original poem for the upcoming edition that can actually be sung to a famous pop song by the Mamas & the Papas named “California Dreamin’.”

Scottish Terrier  Dreamin’

All the Scotties snooze and they’re snoring away.

They’ve been for a walk on this summer’s day.

It was really warm in the sun’s hot rays.

Sniffed the neighbor’s dog we passed along the way.

Well, I held their sturdy leashes as they began to play.

You know the Scotties like to spar so we walked away.

All the Svotties snooze.  They had enough today.

They enjoyed their walk and they got to play.

All of them were feisty in a terrier way.

They had a cold drink and now they snooze away.

Who Could It Be?

Somebody has had an eventful week!  Not only did she eat a rubber handle off a paintbrush and enough landscaping bark in the backyard to make herself throw up, but then Sadie got a little too nosy as Wen was painting and she ended up with white paint on her face and beard.

Since Sadie is probably the most care free and adventurous of us Scotties, she naturally gets into more predicaments and she gets in trouble a lot more than Molly or me (which is fine with us).  This just means that Wen has to constantly keep an eye on Sadie to more or less save her from herself!

Sadie: Am I in trouble again?
