Miss You, Sunny….

One year ago today, we lost Sunny to cancer.  She was seven years older than Molly and me and nine years older than Sadie, so she was our fearless leader and our adoptive Scottie mom.

When we were puppies, Sunny showed us the ropes and she kept us in line.  When we pestered her and got in her face, she gave us a warning snap and we knew to back off!

Sunny was always there for us though and we definitely looked up to her.  It was very sad last year at this time when she wasn’t feeling well and she was losing weight, so Wen took her to see Dr, Nina, our vet, and found out that Sunny had a splenic mass and sadly, about two weeks later, she was gone.

We miss you every day, Sunny Bunny and things haven’t been the same since you’ve been gone.  Just like the poem:  “if tears could build a stairway and memories were a lane, we would walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.” ❤️❤️❤️

Football’s Back!

Since football season’s back, we Scotties put on our Denver Broncos jerseys to show our support.  We are big Broncos fans at our house and win or lose, we will always be loyal to the team.  We are here to root for the orange and blue and like the rest of Broncos Country, we’re excited for the new season.  Yay, football’s back!  Let’s Go Broncos!

Sadie Sized

After the temperature turned warm again, Sadie was back to her new favorite spot for sunning herself:  the steps to our deck.  It’s a mystery why with her black hair, she stretches out on the steps and soaks up the sun, but she loves it.  You’d think that she would get too hot, but she flops down on a step and parks there.  How ironic that the dog with the black haircoat that soaks up the most heat the fastest likes to sun herself more than we wheaties do, but since the steps seem to be perfectly Sadie sized, that’s where you’ll find her!

We Own the Couch!

Every time that Wen gets up off the couch, we Scotties move in and take her place.  Even if she’s only gone for a minute, by the time she comes back, we Scotties have settled in.  After all, if soneone is nice enough to warm the couch, we are going to take advantage of it, because it’s the most comfortable place in the house and in our Scottie minds, we own the couch!

What? We own this place!

The White Stuff’s Back!

There’s about three inches of snow on our deck from the super early September snowstorm that hit our area yesterday.  Since we had temperatures in the mid 90’s the day before, the snow didn’t stick to the streets, but it sure was heavy on the tree branches and Wen had to go out and try to shake the snow off our trees in the backyard.

Half of our backyard is snow covered and the other half that is protected by trees is wet green grass, but we Scotties made tracks, exploring all over.  We’ve never had a summer snowstorm before, so it’s been kind of a shock, but in a couple days, it will feel like summer again with temperatures in the 70’s.  Meanwhile, the white stuff’s back, so we can play in the snow!

Annual Auction Items

The Rocky Mountain Scottish Terrier Club is holding its annual fundraising auction next month.  The auction benefits Scottie Rescue and Wen has been working hard on her donation items.  She has put together several gift baskets and she even made a Scottie Rescue birdhouse.

Of course, this whole process has fascinated us Scotties and we have basically stuck close by to supervise while she works on her projects, especially since she has been working in the kitchen, next to where our treat jar is located.  You never know when we could score a tasty treat for our support and interest in the auction items!

“Oops, I Did It Again!”

Molly had to have a half bath this morning.  Somebody got busted while peeing on her outside in our backyard and that somebody was me!  We male dogs like to mark our territory and we sometimes pee on the spots where the girls have just gone or even pee on them as they are going.  Yeah, it wasn’t exactly my first offense this morning when Wen caught me in the act, so I sort of got in trouble.  Meanwhile, Molly’s rear end got a bath to freshen up where I committed my offense.  It was another case of “Oops, I did it again!” and as per usual, I got a lecture on how inappropriate my behavior was.  Oops!

Photogenic Molly

My sister, Molly, is the prettiest Scottie that Wen has ever had.  You’d think that Molly, with her good looks, would like to have her picture taken and that she would be cooperative in posing for the camera, but that’s not exactly the case.  Molly’s not all wiggly like our sister, Sadie, but instead, she will look away or put her ears back when she senses that Wen is trying to take a picture of her, so it’s difficult to get a decent shot.

Do you think that Molly likes to wear a costume or any fun accessories for a photo shoot?  Hardly!  Wen usually has to take lots of pictures of her to get one that she likes and it sometimes borders on becoming an ordeal.  For a Scottie who is so photogenic, Molly doesn’t make it easy!  Fortunately, on rare occasions, Wen catches her off guard and she is able to get pictures that show Molly for the pretty girl she is and when I say rare occasions, I mean RARE!
