October Snow

Well, we got our usual late October snowstorm and as a “bonus,” we got single digit temperatures!  We Scotties explored our backyard, plowed paths, and found some crunchy ice to snack on, but we didn’t spend much time outside, because each time we went out, the toasty fireplace in our living room seemed like a more appealing option.  When you weigh a cold snowy yard against a plush dog bed in front of the fireplace, the dog bed’s going to win out every time!

Trying (on) Times

We Scotties tried on our Halloween costumes to see if they fit.  Were we sweet little cooperative dogs?  Let’s just say we once again proved that Scotties can be stubborn and a little contrary and our costume trying on time might have been more of a trying time for all of us!

Guess what?!

Guess what?!  It turned cold overnight and our deck was very slick this morning.  The mist from last night froze over and left a surface you coukd skate on.

What do you do as soon as it turns cold?  Get out your winter accessories!

Halloween is Coming!

All of a sudden, it’s only ten days away!  Halloween is coming and Wen has started to get out our decorations.  The vampire dog appeared this morning, as well as the carnivore potted plant, the zombie squirrel, jack o’lanterns, skeletons, and a hideous talking jack o’lantern ghoul.

Even though Halloween will probably be different this year, compared to every other year, due to the pandemic, decorating is still big.  When the house looks festive, everything is more fun, so bring on the spooky stuff!

You back again?

Planning My Day

Well, it’s time to plan my day.  What shall I do?  There are so many options:  eat, take a nap, patrol the backyard, dig holes, beg for treats, play with my squeaky ball, snuggle on the couch,  get my teeth brushed and haircoat brushed, gnaw on chew toys, roll around and scratch my back, play with my sisters.  Hmmm, I can’t decide, so I think I will do them all!

What’s a Scottie To Do?

Okay, I’ll admit it–sometimes you need help and you have to ask for assistance.  In this particular case, I was playing with my squeaky ball and it rolled under the couch.  What’s a Scottie to do?   Look cute and helpless until sonebody realizes what you want and gets your squeaky ball out from under the couch.  And that’s how you get your favorite toy back!

Ahem, my squeaky ball is under the couch.

Tails Up!

Today is Tails Up Thursday!  Okay, not really–I just made that up, but it’s a rare occasion when all three of us Scotties are seen together with our tails in the air.  Something has to be really interesting for all of us to be on the alert as we check it out.  Of course, that could be anything as simple as a leaf blowing to the ground, but if our tails are straight up and they’re not wagging, chances are we’re being our terrier selves and on the hunt for something!

Hello, Birdie!

My sister, Sadie, likes to watch for birds and squirrels when she is in our backyard.  Any motion captures her attention immediately and even though she has no chance of nabbing birds flying overhead or that big fat squirrel that runs across the top of our fence, Sadie’s eagle eyes keep watching.

Sometimes, birds hang out in our neighbor’s gigantic trees and they chirp at us from way above, which seems to fascinate Sadie.  She will stand there as if she is listening to the birds’ conversation.  I bet she’d do more than say “hello, birdie” if one of them landed next to her though.  She is a terrier after all!

It’s Pumpkin Season Again….

Yep, it’s that time of the year when the trees turn brilliant colors and the wind blows the falling leaves all over the place.  Pumpkins appear on the neighbors’ porches and Halloween decorations pop up in their yards.  Ads for pumpkin flavored and pumpkin scented items are everywhere and it’s pretty obvious that fall is once again upon us and it’s pumpkin season again.  Now, if I could just get hold of a pumpkin pie!

Taking Over

The Scottie Christmas crafts are taking over our house!  Our dining room table is covered with little houses and trailers and the countertops in our kitchen are loaded with supplies.  Now, all of a sudden, a big stop sign that lights up with a Scottie and Christmas decorations has joined the finished craft items.  I thought that it was October and the beginning of fall, but it seems as though the holidays have sneaked in early this year around here!
