Interesting Reading Material

The Scottie Scuttlebutt is the newsletter for the Rocky Mountain Scottish Terrier Club.  It is published four times a year and it has news and articles about Scottie Rescue and Scotties in general.  There are always fun photos of Scotties and Scottie-related items to check out.

Wen has submitted articles about us Scotties for the newsletter over the years and our pictures have been in it several times.  For anyone who is interested in Scotties, The Scottie Scuttlebutt is definitely interesting reading material!

How Do You Spell Frustration?

Ooh, a brand new box of Milk-Bones!  We could smell those tasty treats through the box, but there was one problem:  the box was not open!  How do you spell frustration for dogs?  You give them a box of treats without opening it!

Fortunately, Wen grabbed the box, opened it, and poured the contents into our treat jar after she tossed a couple Milk-Bones to each of us, or we would have had to resort to Plan B, which would have been attacking that box until we got ourselves a treat feast.  If she hadn’t opened the box and we had ripped it open, there’s no doubt we would have eaten every last Milk-Bone and then started in on what was left of the shredded box!

Do We Smell Cookies?

Something smells good!  When there’s activity in the kitchen and yummy smells drift throughout the house, we Scotties have to check it out by following our noses into the kitchen.  Do we smell cookies baking?  Do you need some helpers?  We’d be happy to be taste testers!

It’s Sunday Funday!

It’s Sunday Funday once again and with all of the bad news of rising COVID cases and all the election drama, it’s nice to focus on something fun and different for a change:  our favorite football team!  Let’s go, Broncos!  Bring us a win!

Once You Go Wheaten….

Out of the eleven Scotties that Wen has had over the years, seven of us have had wheaten colored haircoats.  Back in 1980, when Wen and her husband saw the first wheaten puppy that they had ever seen (other than a picture in a book), they had to have her and Wen’s love of wheaten Scotties has only increased since then.

They named that first little puppy “Frostianna MacDuff” (Frosty) and the parade of wheatens after her has included Corky, Kirby, Frosty (a rescue Scottie named after the original), Sunny, Molly, and myself.

Most of us have had very light colored hair that almost appears off-white with some wheat colored highlights, while I seem to have the darkest wheaten hair of the bunch with more reddish highlights.  All of us eleven Scotties, no matter what color our coats are, have been lucky dogs to have been a part of our MacDuff clan, but as Wen likes to say, “Once you go wheaten, you just keep repeatin’!”

Catch Some Z’s

After all the hours spent watching the election results on TV last night, we Scotties went to bed way past our usual bedtime.  Morning came pretty fast and after we ate and cruised around outside this morning, we settled back in to catch some more Z’s.  Yep, this is looking like one of those perfect mornings to sleep in.

Rock Stars

At our house, Scotties are rock stars!  All dogs can be great, but Wen thinks that Scotties are by far her favorite breed and having eleven Scotties over the years proves that! Rock on, Scotties!
