One of these things is not like the others….
All of our fall decorations have disappeared and it now looks like Christmas at our house! Wen has been working on Scottie Christmas crafts and she even put up the outside decorations. Yep, you can definitely tell that it’s December!

Do you think that my sisters ever snuggle up next to each other on the couch? Yeah, not gonna happen! During the rare times that they are on the couch or the loveseat at the same time, they usually are at opposite ends. Both of them will hang out with me, but their sisterly love is more or less expressed as respecting each other’s personal space.
Now that I think about it, when our older sister, Sunny, was still around, she wouldn’t hang out with any of us. Why not? Who knows. Sometimes girls are very perplexing to me!

We have two Christmas trees at our house. One is a seven foot tree that is decorated with ornaments that are replicas of the Shiny Brite ornaments that Wen’s family used when she was a little girl. The other is a small tree in an urn and Wen bought some new ornaments to decorate it, but she obviously didn’t buy enough and it looked kind of bare and sad. After another trip to the store though, she brought home a bag of ornaments that really made the tree look pretty and our little tree didn’t look so sad any more!

Molly: Our little tree needs more ornaments to look festive. This is unacceptable!

Molly: Now we’re talking’! Our little tree looks much better!
It’s Turkey Day! Happy Thanksgiving, everybody! Hope you have an enjoyable day with family and friends. Don’t eat too much!!!

Back in the day when Wen was growing up, her parents didn’t rush to put up their Christmas tree. Normally, it was barely up before Christmas. These days with artificial trees, it doesn’t matter how long a tree is up, so ours went up last night already. Who would have thought that a Christmas tree would appear before Thanksgiving, but I suppose it’s nice to have pretty decorations for a longer time.
Yep, the tree’s up and although it doesn’t smell like a real tree, it’s still tempting to us Scotties to have a tree conveniently located in our living room, so I’d better be on my best behavior!

We Scotties are masters of the stink eye to show when we are annoyed or we are disapproving. Our brown eyes are very expressive and we can roll our eyes, give you the side eye, or give you the stink eye like pros. Even my silly goofball sister, Sadie, can muster up a good stink eye if the occasion calls for it. Do something that we Scotties don’t like and the Scottie stink eye may be coming your way!

Do we Scotties line up and wait our turn? Not exactly! Usually, when we appear to be lined up, it’s not intentional. We’re not a crew that waits patiently in line, especially if food is involved! No, if we look as if we are politely sitting there, all lined up, it’s merely coincidence. We may look so cute sitting in a line that we create a photo op, but I assure you it’s an unplanned coincidence.

Lined up or coincidence?
Evidently, the temperature did a nose dive overnight. Instead of the warm weather of the past few days, we Scotties were met with a cold blast of air and the first snow flurries of the year when we went outside this morning. The flakes were teeny tiny, but you could see them gradually collecting on the deck and since the sun is now trying to poke through the clouds, those tiny flakes will disappear quickly. They still count as snow though. There may not be a measurable accumulation, but white stuff is white stuff!

The time changed back to standard time a week ago, but someone forgot to tell us Scotties. We were used to waking up at seven, so since we “fell back” and gained an hour, we now wake up at six. Wen is obviously trying to get us to sleep in until seven, because she doesn’t make a move to get up until then, so we may or may not go back to sleep for an extra hour.
After we get up every morning and go outside, we eat our morning meal immediately, so that routine is going okay, but our stomachs are ready for our evening meal an hour early since the time changed, so we have to wait for our dinner. Hopefully, we Scotties will gradually adjust to the time change like Wen has, but if we follow the same pattern as before, it will take several weeks before our schedules are synchronized with Wen’s schedule. Until then, we Scotties will be wondering, “Isn’t it past time to eat?”

Hint hint: isn’t it past time to eat?
