Game 1

Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals is downtown tonight and it’s the first time in twenty years that our Colorado Avalanche is playing for the cup.  Since we are huge Avalanche fans at our house, we are very excited and we can’t wait for the start of the game.  We are counting the hours until the puck drops and you can be sure that we’ll be cheering on our favorite team.  GoAvsGo!!!

Heatwave

Yep, we’re having a heatwave and we Scotties have been camping out on our cool tile and hardwood floors and on the loveseat where we can feel the breeze from out tower fan. Our A/C and ceiling fans have been working overtime as the temperature nears 100 degrees and we Scotties have abandoned our plush dog bed to stretch out on cooler hard surfaces.

Today we had an extra reason to stay inside as tree trimmers were working next door and in our backyard.  Not only was it hot, but those chainsaws made some loud noise, which seemed to disturb Sadie and send her into barking fits, so we Scotties were housebound for several hours until those tree trimming intruders finally left.  Then, we were out in our yard again, but we didn’t waste any time getting back into our cool house.

The heat wave continues this week, but it wouldn’t hurt our feelings if it went away early!

We’re staying where it’s cool!

Deep Thoughts

Molly in deep thought.  She’s probably wondering how many holes we can get away with digging before Wen plants some grass seed in the bare areas of our backyard.  The ground is still wet from a recent rainstorm and it’s perfect for us Scotties to get in some serious digging.  Molly may be the pretty dog, but she’s an accomplished hole digger and with the current ground conditions, I see hole digging in our future!

Crowded

So our dog bed is getting a little crowded these days with Sadie having to wear a cone to protect her ear from her scratching at it.  The cone keeps her honest, but the two of us don’t quite fit in the bed the way we used to.  With any luck, the cone will cone off in a week and Sadie and I will able to resume our normal dog bed positions.  Of course, by then the weather will probably be warmer so we won’t want to hang out in the dog bed like we do when it’s chilly and the fireplace is on.  Instead of our plush bed, we’ll be seeking out our own spots on the cool tile floor, so the cone won’t be an issue anymore, but for now…..

We have a situation here.

But we like to share the dog bed.

What’s a Scottie to do?

Memorial Day 2022

It’s Memorial Day, the day that we honor our military people who made the ultimate sacrifice to keep us free.  Not only should Memorial Day be a vacation day, but a day of thanks!

One Down, Two to Go!

My sister, Sadie, has been walking around for a week with her head bandaged and a cone on her head, due to her ear hematoma.  She has been very tolerant of both the bandage and the cone and hopefully her ear is healing.  Wen took her to the vet for a recheck today and the bandage stays on for another two weeks, so there’s one week down, two to go!  We can only hope that when that bandage is finally removed that Sadie’s ear hasn’t refilled with fluid so she would need surgery.  Keep your fingers and paws crossed!

Enough Snow!

So we had a big snowstorm over the weekend.  The day before the storm, it was over 80 degrees and the next day, we had a foot of snow on our deck.  The tree limbs were bending over with the wet heavy snow and Wen had to cover the lilac bushes to protect them from the freezing temperatures,

Fortunately, the sun came out with a vengeance the day after the storm and melted off most of the snow.

Okay, that’s enough snow!  We’re ready for some nice warm weather like we had before the storm.  It’s practically summer!

Bring on the sun!!!

Smells Like Spring!

Things are greening up in our yard and the trees have blossomed out.  The grass is  a thick green carpet once again and the forsythia and lilacs are beginning to bloom.  What does that mean for us Scotties?  All kinds of good smells!  Yep, it finally smells like spring!

Sniff, sniff

Pickleball Pal

Wen took classes a year ago to learn how to play pickleball and at first, we Scotties didn’t know what to make of the plastic balls with holes in them.  They seemed to go flying everywhere when she practiced hitting balls in our laundry room and we would chase them across the floor.

Now, we are used to the repetitious popping sound of a ball hitting a pickleball paddle and we’ve pretty much stopped chasing errant balls.  I, however, have always considered myself Wen’s best buddy and now I’m her best pickleball pal.  I may not be able to play the game, but I’m always there for Scottie support!

Hey, isn’t this pickleball day?
