Bring On the Toys!

We Scotties got the neatest Christmas present from Wen’s cousin.  It’s a BarkBox subscription and every month, a box of nifty dog toys and treats arrives for us.  We have thoroughly enjoyed snarfing up the delicious doggie treats and we have had crazy fun times playing with the toys.

This morning, Wen gave us the new toys from the latest BarkBox and of course there was chaos with all four of us trying to grab them.  Surprisingly, Sunny staked her claim on the squeaky pineapple toy and she squeaked it incessantly for the longest time.

You might have guessed that we have eventually destroyed all of the toys, but Wen supervises us as we play and do our damage and we have the best time squeaking, tugging, and shredding.  Bring on the toys!

Long Live the Queen!

We Scotties aren’t exactly royalty, but sometimes we can act as though we are. My older sister, Sunny, comes the closest, because she thinks that she is the queen of our little band of Scots and she pretty much is!

Over the years, the rest of us have learned to respect Queen Sunny’s personal space and her warning bark and snapping jaws, but she is our fearless leader and we love her dearly.

Long live the queen!  Long live Queen Sunny!

Doggie Gymnast?

My sister, Molly, now seems to have a unique talent.  Yesterday, she came in from romping around outside in the backyard and she hopped up on the loveseat in the living room. The next time I looked, she was lying down, all stretched out, and her back legs were resting on the arm of the loveseat and her front legs were resting on the arm of the couch. This doesn’t sound particularly unusual, but since the couch and the loveseat are perpendicular to each other and they are about six inches apart, Molly was actually stretched out over thin air and her middle wasn’t touching either piece of furniture!

What is she, some kind of doggie gymnast?!!  You’d never catch me stretched out over thin air.  I’d go splat on the floor!!

Brrrrr!

It snowed again yesterday and the temperature fell below zero.  For the first time in quite a while, our trips outdoors have become very brief, because it’s cold outside!  We’re not risking frostbite any time soon, so we Scotties run out in the backyard, do our business at warp speed, and show up at the patio door to be let back in.  If Wen doesn’t immediately open the door, Sunny starts barking with her seriously desperate voice to make our presence known and we quickly get let in.

We Scotties like to spend time in our yard, but some days, brrrrr, it’s just too cold!

Let us in!

An Opportunity

Every once in a while, something falls on the floor from above.  No matter what it is, we Scotties have to check it out.  After all, you never know—it could be something to eat and we certainly wouldn’t want to miss an opportunity for a treat!!

What is that?

Happy 12th Birthday, Sunny!!!

Who’s the birthday girl?  It’s my sister, Sunny, who is 12 years old today!

Sunny’s birthday is a very special day, because without the life-saving surgery that she had last August, we probably wouldn’t be celebrating today.  Thanks to the fine veterinarians who diagnosed and performed the surgery, Sunny, our queen of the Scottie crew is celebrating today, which makes us all super happy!

Happy 12th, Sunny!  May you celebrate many more!!!

Chinese New Year

Happy Chinese New Year!  This year is a particularly special year, because it’s officially the Year of the Dog!  That must mean that it’s going to be an especially great year for dogs and dog lovers, so let’s celebrate.  Happy Year of the Dog!

Earthdogs

Yep, we got another blast of the frozen winter white stuff.  Just when we Scotties were enjoying the warm weather, playing with balls and Frisbees in the backyard, we are now back to hopping and plowing our way through the snow.

A few days ago, the groundhog saw his shadow and predicted six more weeks of winter and evidently, he wasn’t kidding!  It’s a good thing that we Scotties enjoy playing in the snow, because during our recent snowstorm, we had fun pretending that we were huskies romping around.  We know that we’re terriers through and through though and we had even more fun digging down through the snow until we hit dirt.  A little winter weather can’t deter us Scotties from our digging pleasure!  After all, earthdogs  must be earthdogs!
