Oh, no….Not Again!

This morning, Wen was busy emailing her friend while someone was equally as busy, committing a repeat offense.  Wen was so engrossed in her email that she didn’t notice that Sadie was lying on the loveseat, happily chewing a corner off the new couch pillow.

Oh, no….not again!  When Wen realized what was happening, Sadie got in big trouble!  Obviously, one of two things needs to happen:  either Sadie needs to knock it off or she needs to get a job to pay for her destructive habit.  Hello, Sadie, couch pillows aren’t disposable and they’re not free either!

Uh-oh!

Did I do that?!

A Perfect Way to Relax

What is one of our favorite things to do inside the house?  We Scotties like to bask in the sun and when the the sun comes in through the windows and we see sunny spots on the floor, we are there!

Lately, there have been some nice sunny spots upstairs in our bedroom and we have enjoyed staking a claim and relaxing in the warmth.  There’s nothing like getting comfy on the carpet and soaking up some rays!  What a perfect way to relax!

Daily Morning Routine

Every morning after we eat, one of us Scotties jumps up on the couch and flips over to get attention.  Who would this be?  It’s our goofy girl, Sadie!  She jumps up, flips over, and lies on her back with her four legs waving in the air until Wen pets her and believe me, she looks funny lying upside down in her persistent quest for attention.

After she gets her morning tummy rub, Sadie flips back over, jumps off the couch, and runs around, looking for a chew toy to gnaw on.  When she eventually finds the right toy, she busies herself with a nice long chewing session.

In her two years here, Sadie has come up with a simple daily morning routine that makes her happy and gives her a good start to the day:  attention with tummy rubs and a good chew!

I’m ready for my tummy rub!

Radio RiRi

I have always wanted to be a DJ on the radio.  I like music and I have lots of opinions to share like talk radio hosts, so I think that I could entertain all you dogs out there in radio land!

My radio station would have the call letters “RiRi,” after one of Wen’s favorite nicknames for me.  Yes, “Radio RiRi” would be a catchy name!

I could have guests and interview my sisters, Sunny, Molly, and Sadie, and spin a few platters, like “Who Let the Dogs Out?”  I could also give weather and dog traffic updates and even have some contests where I give away dog toys and treats, furnished by our sponsors.

Why there’s my station manager now.  She wants to know whether DJ RiRi wants to take a break and go outside, so I’d better go.  All you dogs out there have a good one!  This is Radio RiRi signing off!

Big Kiss

When Wen asked me if I wanted a big kiss, I thought “here it comes.”  I figured that I was going to get a big hug and a smooch on the top of my head, but it turned out that she had something else in mind.  She gave me a giant Hershey’s kiss toy!  It may have not been chocolate, which we all know is not good for dogs, but it was sure was a fun toy to shred!

The Donut Caper

We took a car ride to Franktown, Colorado, the other day for our bi-monthly grooming appointment.  Our trip started out pretty uneventful, but it suddenly turned into a goofy disaster!

We stopped at a grocery store on our way and Wen bought a dozen donuts for Gigi, our groomer, and the girls who work for her.  She placed the box of donuts on top of Sadie’s crate in the car, so they would be safe from Sunny, who was riding shotgun, instead of in crates, like the rest of us Scotties.  Unfortunately, as we stopped at the first red light, the box of donuts slid off the crate, opened up, and donuts went flying everywhere, which definitely captured Sunny’s attention.  Wen immediately pulled into a shopping center parking lot as she fought off Sunny from getting to the donuts.  She got out of the car, opened the back door, and half of the donuts fell out onto the ground while the other half had rolled around in the car and picked up dog hair.  Since Wen didn’t want to give the groomers donuts with dirt sprinkles and hair, she trashed them and bought another dozen at a nearby store.  The second box rode in the back of the car between Molly’s crate and my crate, where Sunny couldn’t reach them, and they made it to the grooming shop with no further problems.  Everyone there was grateful to get an unexpected treat, so the donut caper actually ended on a positive note.

We’re exhausted from our grooming appointment and we didn’t get a donut.

Seriously???

Are you kidding me?  Is it really grooming day?  What do you mean it’s a good thing, because we really need it!  Seriously???

Squeak, Squeak, Squeak

I am known as the serious dog who normally doesn’t play with toys.  I do have a couple of exceptions though:  I will bite on a plush toy when it has a plastic bottle inside, because I like the crunchy sound it makes and I will definitely get into a toy-shredding competition.

The other day, Wen threw a plush toy in my direction and I grabbed it. The toy made a low squeaky sound that was really neat and I wouldn’t let the other Scotties near it as I bit it to make it squeak over and over. Sunny may have claimed her favorite BarkBox toy the other day, but this toy was MINE!  Every time that sneaky Sadie got close, I gave her my best warning growl.  No one was going to get MY cool toy!

After a long squeaky while, I looked up and Sadie swooped in and nabbed the toy, but Wen took it away from her as soon as she ripped into it.  I hope that Wen wanted to save the toy from being shredded because it was unusual to see me having fun and playing with it.

Since the cool toy was saved from total destruction in the nick of time, maybe I’ll get to make it go squeak, squeak, squeak again a bunch of times really soon!  I sure hope so!

Squeak, Squeak, Squeak

Molly’s Shenanigans

Whenever Molly sneaks upstairs by herself, it’s possible that she’s up to no good!  If Wen sees her hopping up the steps, she becomes very suspicious, because when Molly was a puppy, she would go upstairs and leave a little “present” on the floor and then she’d run at full speed back down the stairs.  Molly knows better than to go in the house, but she has also been known to go into Sunny’s cage in the bedroom and mark her territory on Sunny’s crate pad once or twice, so Wen usually has an eye on all of us Scotties to keep us honest.

Today, when Wen saw Molly sitting on the landing, she immediately thought that something was up because Molly looked a little guilty.  Surely, Molly hadn’t been up to her puppy shenanigans again after all this time!

Molly might have looked guilty today, but she hadn’t been up to no good.  She was just sitting on the landing by herself.  Maybe she needs to work on her innocent face though, because her guilty face is not doing her any favors!

. Yep, I’m on the landing by myself.

Why are you giving me the suspicious look?

Okay, I don’t know what I did, but I’m sorry!

The Ice Monster

Sunny and Molly have a mildly annoying habit of begging for food, but lately, Sunny is taking it to a new level.  When Wen is sitting on the couch, drinking a cold beverage with ice, Sunny will jump up next to her, scooch right up, and stare her down.

Sunny LOVES ice cubes and if she realizes that a drink with ice is near, she gets excited and she starts to tremble and whine.  The easiest way to get her to stop is to give her an ice cube, but then she will come right back for more.  By giving Sunny ice cubes, Wen may have created an ice monster!

Sunny may be an obsessed ice monster and Molly and Sadie love crunching ice cubes too, but you’ll never catch ME begging for ice cubes.  It’s not my thing!

Sunny: Gimme some ice!
