Scottie Mind Meld

My sister, Sunny, has the best Scottie mind meld routine.  She jumps up on the couch and stares Wen right in the face with super intensity to let her know that she needs something and she needs it NOW!  Usually, Wen can guess what Sunny’s message is, so Sunny’s technique gets good results.

Lately, I’ve been practicing my own Scottie mind meld to try to convey to Wen that I want a treat, but I guess that compared to Sunny, I’m not as experienced and it isn’t exactly working yet.  I’m not giving up on improving my technique though and with a little more practice, maybe, just maybe, I’ll finally get a treat!

Scottie Mind Meld

Girls, Girls, Girls!

Sometimes I wonder how it would be if I didn’t have three Scottie sisters or if I weren’t the only male in the house.

Who practically tramples me when Wen heads to the freezer to give us crushed ice?

Who got me interested in digging up grass and eating dirt out in the backyard?

Who sits in front of me when treats are handed out?

Who gets us all in trouble when they have an “oops” in the house?

Girls, Girls, Girls!!

Okay, who keeps me company every day of our lives and are the best buddies I could ever have?  Yeah, you guessed it….Girls, Girls, Girls!!!

The Girls

Hello….

We are having a typical spring here in Denver and the weather flip flops from warm days to blasts of snow.  Since we Scotties enjoy the snowy days and our romps through the backyard, we constantly pester Wen to let us outside and sometimes when she lets us back inside, one of us will be a straggler and get left out in the cold until Wen realizes that one of us is missing.

The other day, Wen looked at the patio door and there was Sunny, looking in.  Sunny’s expression immediately reminded Wen of a famous song:  “Hello….is it me you’re looking for?!” and within a few seconds, Sunny was back inside!

“Hello…. is it me you’re looking for?!”

Terminator Teeth

Well, we Scotties did it again!  We were given some nifty new toys to play with and what did we do?  We shredded them until we had little puffs of stuffing all over the floor.

Wen had to do a speedy clean up so that none of us would be tempted to snarf up the stuffing and she even had to pull some tiny pieces from our beards.

The toys that provided us with a rousing good time are now residing where all of our toys eventually end up:  in the trash, because our terminator teeth did an awesome job once again, ripping them up.  What kind of Scotties would we be though, without our terminator teeth?!

Bye, bye, toys!

Sea Ya!

I dolphin-ately want to chew up this toy.  After all, for dogs, what’s a toy’s porpoise?!  Ha ha, that’s supposed to be funny, but maybe you just don’t sea it.  Okay, it a-piers I’m not all that funny, so I’m o-fish-ally done.  Sea ya!

I Love My TV!

What is my favorite pastime right now?  It is my TV!  Not a real TV, because I rarely watch anything on TV, but my BarkBox TV toy.  I have never had so much fun chomping on a toy and making it squeak with its funky squeak and I love to shake it, toss it, and chase it.  I don’t normally play with toys, but I get so excited when I play with my TV that if Sadie sneaks up and tries to steal it, I growl at her until she leaves.

Nobody’s going to get my TV and Wen had better buy a spare, because I’m having so much fun biting and chewing on this one that I’m going to rip it into smithereens!  Did I say I love my TV?!

Did you take my TV?

Half and Half

The first day of spring has sprung with nice warm temperatures, but we Scotties currently have a winter wonderland in our backyard.  We woke up to a good eight inches of snow yesterday, but since the sun came out, it’s been melting quickly.  Now, when we go outside, I guess that you could say that we have a half and half experience.  We may be feeling the warm sun on our backs, but our tootsies are still freezing in the snow.

Half and half is different, but it is a fun change of pace and I’m sure not complaining, because until the sun melts them, we have little pieces of ice on our deck to snack on!

Going For a Visit

Wen’s friend who fell and broke four ribs returned home from rehab the other day.  She is a huge fan of Scotties, so we decided to pay her a visit.

Wen thought that taking a Scottie and some yummy cupcakes would be just what the doctor ordered, so she chose me to go along.  We went for a short car ride and then we spent over an hour on our visit while Wen and her friend chatted and I went nosing around to explore the house.  I even got some treats for being a good boy!

I think that we made the day for Wen’s friend and she wanted us to stay longer, but her caregiver arrived and we headed home.  All in all, our visit was a success, because we brought sone cheer to a friend who really needed a distraction from her aches and pains and I bet that we’ll be going for another visit soon.

No Pinching Allowed!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everybody!  I am wearing green today so that I don’t get pinched by a leprechaun—or anyone else, for that matter!  I may be a proud Scot, but I’m not missing an opportunity to celebrate, so let’s have a fun and safe St. Patrick’s Day today and don’t forget to wear green.  No pinching allowed!
