The Wizard

Way before Harry Potter was another famous wizard.  “The Wizard of Oz” is definitely a favorite movie at our house and it never seems to get old.  Every time that we watch it, we Scotties like the parts where Toto, the Cairn Terrier, is featured, but Wen likes the yellow brick road parts where they are “off to see the Wizard.”  Who could ever forget that famous line, ” Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!”

“Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!”

Back to School Time

Here it is already:  back to school time.  Where did the summer go?  Oh, it’s still actually summer, but the schools seems to start earlier and earlier each year.

In my opinion, if any of us Scotties could benefit from a little education, it would be Sadie.  Not only is she the youngest of our crew, but she’s definitely the wackiest!  Back to school, Sadie!!  Time for some learning!

Football Fever

Football is back!  The Denver Broncos players are in training camp and the pre-season games will start soon.  All of this is exciting, but we diehard fans can’t wait until next month when the real season starts.  Then it really gets exciting.

Let’s go Broncos!  I’ve got football fever!

I’m a Scottie!

I may not be the perfect little angel that my sister, Sadie, is when Wen takes her visiting at the nursing home, but I do pretty well.  My problem is that I like to nose around and go exploring, so Wen has to keep me on a short leash so that I don’t get into trouble.

On a recent visit, I did receive some very nice compliments from nursing home staff members and some residents who were eager to pet me, but my main issue was that several people called me a “Schnauzer!”  What?!!!

Wen was quick to inform the people that I was a Scottie.  I suppose that when people see a dog with a beard, they may think of a Schnauzer first and maybe my wheaten haircoat throws them off, because lots of people think that all Scotties are black.

One thing is for sure though:  I’m a Scottie and don’t you forget it!

I’m a Scottie!

Car Ride!

Car rides are my favorite!  You never know what cool place you’re going to end up or what fun things await you.  Sometimes, a car ride can even lead to a tasty treat—or not, but regardless, I’m always eager to go on a car ride!

I love me a car ride!

Seriously, we’re really not going to McDonalds?

Happy Shark Week!

It’s Shark Week on TV and my buddies and I have been watching some interesting shark programs.  Some of them have been informative and some of them were just plain scary, looking at all those teeth!

In honor of Shark Week, my buddies and I have been boning up on some facts about sharks, which is kind of ironic, since sharks don’t have any bones!  Happy Shark Week!

Time to Go to the Store!

What is one of the things that I least like to hear?  The words “We’re out of Milk Bones!”  We Scotties live for our dog food and our treats and when the treat jar is empty, it’s not a good thing.

I suppose you could say that we Scotties are a spoiled bunch and it’s true that we are used to getting a few treats each day, but if the treat jar is empty and there isn’t another box of Milk Bones in the pantry, it’s not just disappointing news, it’s time to go to the store!

We’re out of Milk Bones?!

Professional Poppers

Every summer, Wen gives us Scotties a beach ball to play with.  After a few minutes of raucous fun, we always pop it from biting at it.  It’s tremendous fun while we’re chasing the ball around, but once it’s popped and deflated, not so much.  We professional beach ball poppers know how to attack a beach ball and not only kill it, but kill our fun too.

This year, Wen gave us a different kind of beach ball:  a tightly stuffed beach ball dog toy with a rope attached.  It was super fun to play with too, until I got a hold of it and Riley the Ripper ripped a seam open and stuffing fell out all over.  Not only am I a professional popper, but a ripper too and once again, our beach ball fun came to a screeching halt.

MY Steak

What’s better than a nice juicy steak?  Okay, nothing, but a fuzzy squeaky steak toy comes in a close second for us Scotties.

We got a neat new steak toy yesterday and as soon as I saw it, I claimed it.  I may or may not have staked my claim, but I definitely claimed MY steak!  Nothing like a squeaky steak to keep me entertained!
