Batty For Halloween

Sometimes you can reap rewards from a visit to the dollar store!  Wen likes to go there every once in awhile to browse up and down the aisles for fun items to use as accessories for us Scotties when we pose for pictures.  They have a lot of seasonal and holiday merchandise at the dollar store and sometimes a shopping trip can end up being a bonanza for very little money.

What was the result of today’s shopping trip?  A dollar’s worth of Halloween fun!  Anyone else feeling batty for Halloween?!

Our Undivided Attention

Nothing captures a dog’s attention like food.  The promise of treats or the sound of our bowls being filled with dog food makes all four of us Scotties come running.  You want to quickly get our attention?  Pick up the treat jar and rattle it or open up a bag of treats and you will immediately see four eager Scotties sitting in front of you.

Okay, you now have our undivided attention. Come on, where’s our treats?!

What a Good Sport!

My sister, Sunny, is the best sport when it comes to dog costumes.  Wen can put the wackiest outfits on her, because Sunny is the most tolerant and cooperative of all of us Scotties.  She is the oldest of our crew and she has had many years of experience with costumes.  Sunny knows how to pose and she makes the rest of us look like amateurs.

Hats and crazy headbands?  No problem!  Sunny models them like a pro.  Today, Wen put a goofy troll hair headband on her and Sunny patiently wore it while Wen took several pictures.  A modeling agency should sign Sunny up.  What a good sport she is!

“Snowtober”

Guess what showed up overnight!?  Here’s a hint:  it’s cold, white, and flaky.  Yep, it snowed and it’s still snowing.  I guess that October is now officially “Snowtober” and we Scotties are having great times outside, chasing around the the yard in the white stuff.  From yesterday’s warm temperatures in the sixties, we have gone to winter wonderland. What a difference a day makes!

Sniff, Sniff

For the last few days, Wen has been busy going through her extensive collection of Scottie items to decide which things would make good donations to the Scottie rescue auction.  She likes to arrange items to make cute gift baskets and of course, since I am nosey, I am usually right in the middle of things.

Yesterday, she finished making the gift baskets and she even found a huge Scottie pattern dog bed, which she topped with all kinds of fun Scottie theme items.  It’s a good opportunity for her to use her crafter skills and an even better time for me to get involved too, as crafty time is interesting and my nose likes to go wherever it is interesting! Sniff, sniff, sniffity sniff!

Auction Time

The auction that is the annual fundraiser for Scottie rescue is less than two weeks away.  Today, Wen spent hours organizing her Scottie item donations to the auction while we Scotties “supervised.”

Actually, most of our “supervising” happened while we sat by the fireplace, as it was a cold rainy day, but we were there for moral support.

Hopefully, all of Wen’s Scottie items will sell and bring in lots of money for the care of the rescue Scotties who are in foster homes until they are adopted.

Auction time is an exciting time for the Scottie club members, who tend to get in bidding wars over the many interesting donated items.  It’s all in fun though and the proceeds benefit a cause that is close to everyone’s heart:  the rescue Scotties.

Welcome Back!

What time is it?  It’s fireplace time!  Yes, all of a sudden, the weather turned chilly and rainy and Wen turned on our fireplace for the first time since last spring.  Before you knew it, one by one, we Scotties found our place in front of it, so we could soak up the heat,

Welcome back, fireplace!  It’s been a long time and we missed you!

A Thing for Paper Towels

I have a thing for paper towels.  Whenever I see one on our coffee table and no one is looking, I grab it, shred it, and eat it.  I can’t tell you how many times that Wen has busted me for eating paper towels, but every time that she sees me sneaking up on one or catches me in the act of eating one, she springs into action and snatches the paper towel away from me either half-eaten or before I can grab it.

I guess that eating too much of a paper towel could be potentially dangerous and cause a blockage, but I try to eat them anyway, even though I always get in trouble when I get caught, because they are fun to chew.  Wen had better be on her game and keep an eye on me, because evidently, I can’t help myself.  I have a serious thing for paper towels.

Oops, I did it again!

Bee-utiful!

The other day, Wen was shopping and she came across a Halloween costume that looked perfect for Sadie.  It was a simple yellow and black striped hoodie with wings on the back and antennae on the black hood.  Yep, it was a bee.

Wen could picture how cute Sadie would look in the hoodie with her black muzzle sticking out of the hood, so of course she bought it for her.

Sadie wasn’t exactly thrilled to be dressed up as a bee, but she cooperated and Wen was able to take a few pictures of her before Sadie went buzzing around our living room.

Nice job, Sadie!  You look bee-utiful!

Fall is Here!

Ah, yes, fall is here!  The sweet smell of pumpkin spice is everywhere.

Wait a minute….

I hear a lawnmower and that’s the smell of freshly cut grass, not pumpkin spice.  Oh, well…..
