Top o’ the morning to ya! Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everybody!!

Yep, we got dumped on by the bomb cyclone, but by today, the sun was out and the melting began. While Wen and our neighbors were busy clearing driveways and sidewalks, we Scotties were cruising the backyard and chomping on pieces of ice. In other words, the aftermath of the bomb cyclone was not so bad and we’re looking forward to the big meltdown and much warmer days.

Well, we were blasted with a blizzard, thanks to a bomb cyclone. From a nice warm 62 degree day the day before, we woke up to rain, which quickly turned to snow. Then, tropical-force winds blasted us with a turbocharged blizzard. As a matter of fact, when we Scotties were out in the backyard, the winds were so strong that we were pelted with snow and it was hard for us to see. Normally, we love to play in the snow, but this was way beyond a regular snow storm and none of us wanted to spend much time outside. As a matter of fact, as soon as Wen would let us out, Sunny would immediately start barking to be let back in.
The weather forecasters said that the gusting winds were of historic proportions and we would have to agree. One bomb cyclone blizzard was plenty enough for us! We are ready for spring!

Cyclone bomb blizzard = no fun!
Wen’s best friend, our Auntie, came over yesterday and she brought us a big surprise! She had recently returned from a vacation in the Bahamas and she had a big bag with her. When Wen opened the bag, she pulled out two adorable new friends just for me–a dolphin and a sea otter! Now I have two brand new ocean-loving buddies! Do my new friends and I have a new banana boat adventure to look forward to in our future??? Hmmm….

Sunny has been sneaking upstairs and getting into the bathroom trash. Yes, She has become a four-footed vandal! Recently, Wen placed duct tape across the cabinet doors where the trash can is kept, but Sunny, being a tenacious Scottie, has pawed at the tape until she gets one door open in spite of the sticky duct tape.
Wen thought that she had outsmarted Sunny with her duct tape solution, but no-o-o-o! Sunny is smart and a little piece of tape is not going to stop her from her favorite pastime of shredding paper towels and Kleenex from a trash can that just happens to be the perfect height for a Scottie nose.
Wen figured that the best way to stop Sunny’s vandalism was to catch her in the act of sneaking upstairs and that’s just what she did. Sunny had made it to the landing when Wen called her name and Sunny knew that she was busted, so she slinked back downstairs. So much for her best laid plans!

Busted!
Sadie went on another nursing home visit the other day. Not only does she like to ride in the car, but she is very comfortable hanging out in Wen’s friend’s room at the nursing home. She settles in on the bed and totally makes herself at home as if she belongs there. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Sadie knows there is a box of Milkbones on the bureau and she eagerly waits for the treats she receives each visit, but she really is a good little visitor, considering that all of her visits have lasted over an hour.
Sadie is quite the tail wagger and when nurses or other residents come into Wen’s friend’s room, Sadie sits up on the bed to greet them with her tail thumping. Over the months she has visited, Sadie has met a lot of residents and staff members and she has become a well-known little visitor. As Wen carries her through the halls, people smile at them and they always hear people say, “there’s the little black dog!”
It has been heart-warming seeing how Sadie can bring a smile to people who definitely need some cheer and a real eye-opener realizing how much cheer one little visitor can bring. Nice job, Sadie!

Sadie
It’s time to celebrate Mardi Gras! Yes, it’s Fat Tuesday, but there’s one big problem: we’re not in New Orleans. Oh, well, what the heck! That never stopped us before! Happy Fat Tuesday!

Here it is, Sunday morning. It snowed overnight and it is about zero degrees outside. What do we Scotties do on a freezing cold morning? The two best choices are to lie by the fireplace or stake out a spot on the couch and be a couch potato. Either choice is better than cruising around outside in the frigid temperatures and it seems as though today’s most popular choice is being Scottie couch potatoes. Yep, we are vegging out where it’s nice and toasty warm. Mama didn’t raise no fools!

Just when you think that this is a blurb about athletic shoes, think again! I’m talking about Scotties who go sneaking off to be up to no good and in our house, that usually involves the upstairs bathroom trash can.
My sister, Sunny, has recently become obsessed with getting into the bathroom trash and strewing tissues and paper towels all over the bedroom carpet. Needless to say, Sunny’s habit has not been very popular with Wen, who has to continually clean up the messes. When no one is paying attention, Sunny will sneak up the steps and paw at the bathroom cabinet until she gets the door open and she can stick her nose into the trash. One time I noticed her sneaking off, so I decided to follow her to see what was up and when I saw her get into the the trash, I thought that I could do that! So I waited for what seemed like a good time and I went sneaking up the steps, only to get to the landing and hear “Riley! Where are you going?!” Bummer, wouldn’t you know, I got busted! I guess that I’m not as good a sneaker as Sunny.
Now, there seems to be a new addition to the bathroom cabinet doors–a big piece of duct tape. Sunny still sneaks upstairs on her usual trash missions (once a sneaker, always a sneaker), but she’s having little success in getting the door open, because it’s taped shut. How do I know this? Because both of us sneakers had to check it out!

Busted!
There is one thing in our house that all four of us Scotties absolutely love. We notice when it moves from its spot on the kitchen counter and when it rattles, we come running. What is it? Our beloved treat jar, the large plastic jar that holds our Milkbones. The sound it makes when Wen picks it up and shakes it is magnificent and every time we hear those mini Milkbones rattling around inside, we run to the kitchen counter and line up for a tasty treat. Is there a more magical sound? I don’t think so!
