Well, Hail!

We were enjoying the 4th of July holiday when all of a sudden it started to thunder.  In no time at all, it got dark, the rain kicked in, and the storm grew in intensity.  Then, you could hear the pings and pops of hail on our roof and against the windows.  We Scotties had just been outside and Sunny was still cruising the yard when the hail revved up and Wen had to quickly go and get her inside.

The hail banging against our house got so loud that we all had to look out our patio door and it was collecting on the grass and on our deck.  What happened to our nice 4th of July afternoon?  Well, it had a big hail delay, but the storms rolled through and eventually, it cleared up for the fireworks displays.  Who would have thought that we’d be watching a big old hail storm on the 4th?!

Yard Work Supervisors

We Scotties are nosy.  We like to keep track of what’s going on around the house and that includes everything that goes on in our backyard too.  When Wen does yard work, such as pruning bushes, she normally lets us cruise around the yard as long as we don’t get in the way, but when she cuts the grass, the gate is open, so we have to stay inside.  This doesn’t prevent us from watching her though, because we like to sit by the patio door and supervise her every move.  Yep, sometimes there’s just one of us watching or sometimes all four of us are peering through the blinds, but you can be assured that the yard work supervisors are always on duty, because we Scotties are nosy!

Early Wake Up Call

This morning, we all got up really early and ate, went outside, and we Scotties were back in our crates a little after 6 AM.  What was the deal with the early wake up call?  It turned out that Wen wanted to get up especially early to attend a geocaching event in a park a few miles away from our home.  At the last minute, she decided to take one dog along and she chose Sadie, so the rest of us Scotties went back to sleep until they returned after the event.  No sense in not putting our early morning to good use with an extra snooze!

Sadie: It’s kind of early for an event!

Happy Birthday to Molly!

Who had a birthday this week?  My sister and best buddy, Molly!  She turned six years old, just like I did earlier this month and she had a pink princess themed birthday celebration.  Wen got Molly a pink princess crown and all of her birthday toys were pink too, because she is definitely the princess of our Scottie crew.

Happy birthday, Molly!  If you don’t want to play with some of your awesome toys, I know someone who will!

Sadie’s Car Ride

My sister, Sadie, was the lucky dog who got to go for a car ride with Wen recently.  While the rest of us Scotties hung out in our cages at home, Sadie had an adventure.  She actually accompanied Wen on their weekly nursing home visit, but car ride destinations are always a surprise for Sadie until they arrive.

Yay, I’m going for a car ride!!

Uh-oh, wait a minute….

I wonder where we’re going?

It’s not the vet, is it?!

The Toy Terminator

This week, it seems as though I am the toy terminator.  Not only did I tear up my plush lobster, but when Wen gave me a big plush disc with a funky squeaker inside to play with while she mowed the lawn, I had it destroyed by the time she came back inside and she found pieces of fluffy stuffing all over the living room floor to clean up.  Then, to make matters worse, we Scotties were given an inflatable beach ball to chase around and I was the first to grab it and within seconds, I had bite marks all over it and popped it.  The ball immediately deflated and lost its fascination for any of us.  Yep, the toy terminator is three for three and the chance that we’ll get any new toys very soon is looking kind of slim!

Oops!

The Stink Eye

Nobody knows how to give the stink eye better than my sister, Sunny.  I have a pretty good stink eye, but Molly and Sadie haven’t exactly developed the talent.  Sunny, however, makes me look like an amateur when compared to her scathing stink eye.  As an example, Wen was late in feeding us our dinner the other night and Sunny, who has an internal clock that won’t quit, sat on the floor and gave her the stink eye as if to say, “Where the heck’s our dinner?”

Wen happened to look over and notice Sunny’s expression and she immediately went to the kitchen and filled up our bowls.  There were no words necessary.  The stink eye has magic powers!

It’s Here!!

It’s here–the first day of summer!

Enjoy the sun, it’s time for fun!

Get out the pool to keep us cool.

An icy treat to beat the heat

Would make our day.  Come on, let’s play!!

Annual Scottie Club Picnic

The Rocky Mountain Scottish Terrier Club held their annual picnic last weekend and Wen decided to take only one of us Scotties.  Which one of us got to go?  Sunny is thirteen and she has personal space issues.  She doesn’t like strange dogs right in her face and she could possibly nip if antagonized.  (Strike 1).  Molly can be shy and the last time that Wen took her to a picnic, poor Molly was overwhelmed with all of the people and dogs, so she pooped and peed all over herself.  (Strike 2).  I am pretty sociable, but on two different occasions, the same aggressive Scottie jumped up and bit me, so Wen was hesitant to take me, since that dog was going to be there.  (Strike 3, we’re all out)!  That left Sadie and since she likes people and dogs, she was the logical choice.

The picnic location was at a nice park with a shelter house and the club members had a great lunch and the Scotties got to explore the park on leash.  Sadie got lots of attention and compliments and had her picture taken several times.  Wen was happy that she had chosen to take her until she was carrying Sadie and her crate back to her car.  As they were passing three Scotties who were leashed to a tree by the sidewalk, the same Scottie who had bitten me twice before, jumped up with lightening speed and bit Sadie, who screamed loudly!  Wen had been told that he had outgrown his bad behavior, but clearly, she was misinformed!  She rushed Sadie to the car and found that she was okay, but will she take any of us Scotties to another event if that biting dog is going to be there?  Very doubtful, but only time will tell….

Sadie: I had a fun time until I got bit!!
