“Toss Those Milk-Bones!”

Each time that Wen pauses by the Milk-Bones jar on our kitchen counter, we Scotties come running.  We sit there and wait patiently or in Sadie’s case, not so patiently, for the jar lid to open and for Wen to grab some of those tasty treats,  Then, with any luck, she will toss them to us and we snag them like little hungry gators.  I even got a compliment this morning as Wen said that I was a good snagger!

We love our Milk-bone treats and every time that it looks as though a treat opportunity might happen and we are all anxiously sitting at attention, you can almost hear us Scotties thinking out loud in unison:  “Toss Those Milk-Bones, Toss Those Milk-Bones,” as if we were on a game show on TV.  Ooh, excuse me, gotta go!  Wen is heading towards the Milk-Bones jar right now!!!

Wheatie Windsock

Sonebody spent the weekend at the dog show in Greeley, Colorado, and brought home a Scottie-themed treasure.  Yes, Wen found a windsock with a wheaten Scottie embroidered on it at one of the vendor booths and decided that it was a must-have purchase, so we now have our very own wheatie windsock.  How cool is that?!

We Are Ready for Some Football!

The Denver Broncos play their first preseason game tonight and we Scotties will be lined up on the couch.  We each have a Broncos jersey to wear and our Broncos flag is flying in the yard to show that we are fans.  Bring it on!  We are ready for some football!

HOLDING!!! Did he call holding???!!

We Need a Little Assistance!

We Scotties aren’t particularly TV watchers, unless something on the TV catches our eye.  We’re not like Corky, Wen’s Scottie who years ago would be glued to the Westminster Kennel Club dog show every year and run right up to the big TV screen when she saw sonething especially fascinating, but Sadie is probably the most one of us affected by sounds coming from the TV.  When a dog barks on TV, she will bark back and if a doorbell rings on TV, she will definitely bark, because she thinks that it’s our doorbell.

Certain programs seem to be more attention grabbers for us than others though, such as shows about dogs, like the ones on the Animal Planet channel.  The only problem is that we Scotties can’t work the remote, so we need Wen to change the channel to a dog-friendly show for us.  Excuse me, but we need a little assistance here!  Could you please change the channel?

Excuse me!

Two Little Puppies

My sister, Molly, and I were born just three weeks apart.  She came from a breeder in Kansas and I came from a breeder in Ohio, but we grew up together under the watchful eyes of our big sister, Sunny.   We were lucky to have a best buddy to experience the fun times and the trials of being Scottie puppies and growing up together really bonded us.

Scotties may be independent dogs, but even so, it’s always nice to have a bestie!

Holey Moley!

Well, we Scotties got in trouble again for the holes that seem to be mysteriously popping up in the backyard.  We don’t know what the big deal is.  Just because Wen discovers two or three (or more) new holes every morning when she accompanies us outside and she has to get busy and replace the dirt and put down grass seed.  Evidently, that does not make her a happy camper, because what takes us Scotties a couple of seconds to destroy, takes her a little more effort to repair.  I mean, holey moley, Scotties are terriers and terriers are earth dogs and we’re just doing what comes naturally, but I guess as long as we keep digging holes, we’ll keep getting in trouble.  Holey moley!

Holey moley!

Memories

When Wen got a new phone, all kinds of old photos popped up that were hanging out in the cloud.  It was a bittersweet discovery, since there were photos of Kirby and Frosty in their last few weeks, but there were also photos of Molly and me as puppies, so all the pictures weren’t sad.  I have to say that we were pretty cute little puppies and it was fun to see all kinds of photos of us as we grew up.  What a mixed bag of memories–some happy and some sad, but all very precious to Wen.

The Plotting Scottie

When Sadie stretches out on the arm of the couch and her eyes are open, you can almost hear her little brain churning.  She is a mischievous Scottie and when she takes a rest from her usual antics, you can tell that she is plotting her next move, such as what toy to attack next, how to sneak that piece of paper off the coffee table and chew it up, or who is the best option of the rest of us Scotties that she can bother until we chase her around the room.

Yes, Sadie may appear to look very innocent as though she is taking a snooze, but when those eyes and eyebrows are moving, she is no doubt a plotting Scottie!  What kind of trouble will she get into next?

Hmmm…. What shall I do next?

“Scottie Talk”

Sometimes we Scotties give each other very meaningful looks in passing.  We may not communicate with words like humans do, but not only do we understand each other’s barks and whines, but with one look, we can figure out what each other is trying to say.  For example, this morning, Sadie was hanging out on the couch and when she saw Sunny walking by, she sat up and gave her a “What you doin’?” look.  Sunny stopped in her tracks and looked at Sadie as if she was replying “What YOU doin’??”  Sadie sat back down and Sunny went on her way after their “Scottie talk.”  No words necessary.

What you doin’? What YOU doin’??

Chillin’

My sister, Sunny, spends a lot of time chillin’ on the loveseat.  From there she can pretend to have a nice snooze while keeping an eye on what’s going on.  She may look as though she’s sleeping, but nothing gets past Sunny!

Chillin’

What’s that?

Dinnertime!!
