Singing Scotties

Everyone who knows Scotties well knows that we can sing.  Our characteristic howling ‘aroooo” certainly counts as singing and the gusto with which we throw our heads back and let forth a joyous sound rivals any human singing.

If we could sing actual words like humans though, we would probably sing about our favorite things, such as anything food-related, or our beloved toys.  Maybe we would even sing about the holidays, the weather, our feelings, those pesky squirrels, or enjoying sunny days or playing in the snow, but since we are pretty much limited to “aroooo” singing, we will just enjoy a good hearty “aroooo” and hope that maybe our doggie friends will join in on the chorus!

Aroooo! (Translation:  Deck the halls with lots of Milk-Bones, Fa la la la la, la la la la!)

Good Golly, a Rare Treat!

My sister, Molly, is pretty much allergic to having her picture taken.  Wen tries and tries to get a nice picture of her, but Molly usually plasters her ears back whenever she sees Wen hovering with her phone or iPad or she looks the other way.  Sometimes, she even gets up and leaves, which is frustrating for Wen as Molly is her pretty girl and she only would like a nice photo of her.

Every once in a while though, on a rare occasion, the planets align and Wen is able to snap a picture when Molly isn’t concentrating on being contrary and good golly, Molly, with her natural good looks, actually takes a nice picture, which turns out to be a rare treat!

Good Sport

Sometimes you just have to be a good sport, even though you may have doubts.  While Wen was finishing up her Christmas shopping the other day at her favorite store, she of course had to check out the pet section and what did she find?  A Christmas tree doggie outfit.  Thinking that she had found the perfect outfit to dress me up and take my picture to advertise my upcoming tribute to Christmas trees, Wen couldn’t pass up that tree-shaped gem and she brought it home.

Usually, I am a really good sport about dressing up to have my picture taken, but the tree outfit had some rather tight sleeves for my front legs and it wasn’t exactly the most comfortable fit.  After a little wiggling, however, I settled down and my good sport personality took over long enough to take a few pictures.  After all, it’s been my experience that good sports are rewarded with yummy treats!

The Trees are Coming!

My poetic tribute to Christmas trees is coming December 10!  Until then, I will post a few Christmas tree-themed reminders for the festive tribute that involve costumes and trees.  Time to get in the holiday mood, because–get ready–the trees are coming!

Chomp Chomp!

My sisters can often be found gnawing away on chew toys.  They seem to love satisfying their chewing habits, but I, on the other hand, rarely pay any attention to the hard rubber toys.  Yeah, I’ll happily rip a plush toy to shreds, but those harder toys for power chewers are not that interesting to me.  That’s why whenever I happen to be found with a chew toy, I get my picture taken.  It seems that if a chomping sound comes from my direction, it’s a rare occasion worth documenting.  Okay, today’s the day–chomp chomp!
