Game Day

It’s Super Bowl Sunday!  Once again, we football fans will be in front of the TV with our snacks, rooting for our favorite team to win.  Okay, our favorite team may have not come anywhere close to being in the Super Bowl, but this game is shaping up to be a good one, so we’ll definitely be on the couch watching.  May be best team win!

Bring it on!

Community Slurp Session

It doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, the sounds of extreme slurping fill the air.  Sometimes, after we Scotties have been outside for awhile, especially in the summertime, we all have the same idea when we come back inside and that’s to head straight to our water bowl.  We have worked it out for us to squeeze in around our bowl so that all three of us can drink at the same time and when we do, there’s some pretty loud slurping going on.  Hey, when it’s time for a community slurp session, we Scotties don’t care how it sounds, we just slurp up the water!

Funky Beards

Let’s face it, we Scotties have beards and sometimes our beards get funky.  We eat, we drink, we play, we chew on stuff, we nose around, and we go outside and pull up grass and dirt with our teeth.  You can’t expect us to always have a perfect-looking beard when we are dogs on the go and since having our beards combed is not exactly our favorite activity, it’s perfectly fine with us if we have funky beards!

Morning Snuggles

Every morning, we have a routine that we follow.  After breakfast, Wen watches the news on TV from her favorite spot on our living room couch and we Scotties like to be up there with her.  Since I am the biggest snuggler of our Scottie crew, I make sure that I get permission to jump up along side her and snuggle up, because a morning snuggle starts the day off right!

May I come up there?

Oops, Busted Again!

Our nice warm weather has finally melted all the snow in our backyard.  What does that mean for us Scotties?  It means that we have a couple of nifty mud holes to explore! Being terriers, we Scotties love to dig and those mud holes are just too tempting for us to avoid.  The only problem is that when Wen calls us inside, she can instantly tell what we’ve been up to, especially when we have telltale muddy paws or beards and that’s exactly what happened this morning.  Oops, once again, we were busted!

Oops, busted again!

The Best Gift

There was one Christmas gift that Wen received that was just the best gift!  Not only was it artsy and creative, but it also was Scottie-themed.  Her cousin had a stroke of genius to select this gift for Wen, because she absolutely loves it and has it prominently displayed in our kitchen right now.

It’s a Scottie-shaped cutting board made from wood that has a beautiful grain.  The Scottie silhouette was perfectly cut out and the board is finished like a work of art.  Do you think that Wen will be chopping away on this special gift?  I don’t think so!

Is this the coolest?!!

Were You Talking to Me?

Sometimes, we Scotties have an attitude.  We are an independent sort and we can be very opinionated, which you can see by our facial expressions, especially when we give you the side eye.

Are you talking to me? Because if you’re talking to me, I wasn’t listening, so you had better talk to me again!

Molly’s Spot

We Scotties all have our favorite spots in our house.  These spots are where we feel safe and comfortable and where you can typically find us hanging out.

Every morning, Sadie can be found sitting in her corner in the bedroom.  She has a narrow path access to the corner between the closet wall and her wire cage and she squeezes into the little corner space, which is surrounded by a nightstand and her cage.  There she sits until Wen calls her when it is Sadie’s turn to have her teeth and haircoat brushed.

My favorite spot is anywhere on the living room couch–not the loveseat, just the couch.  I especially like to snuggle up next to Wen when she is sitting on the couch, because I can curl up and she will scratch my back, which I absolutely love.

Molly has claimed the living room loveseat as her favorite spot.  She perches on the arm of the loveseat, lies on its throw pillows with her head propped up, and can even be found all stretched out, upside down with her feet in the air on the cushions.  She actually spends more time there than I do on the couch.

There is one more special spot in our house that is only available in the wintertime and that’s when the dog bed is in front of our gas fireplace.  Sadie and I love to curl up in the dog bed and soak up the warmth from the fireplace, but only when the fireplace is on.  Otherwise, we pretty much ignore the dog bed.  Molly, on the other hand, never lies on the dog bed.  I guess that she doesn’t see the point when she the comfy loveseat all to herself!

National Western Stock Show

Every January, the National Western Stock Show is held in Denver.  It is the premier livestock, rodeo, and horse show in the United States and if you like western events, it is the place to be.  There are sheep and cattle dog competitions that feature incredibly talented herding dogs.  These working dogs have amazing abilities and their herding competitions are popular events.

Yes, I know that I’m a terrier and not a working dog, but I like to get into the spirit of the Stock Show anyway.  Ride ’em cowboy!
