A Rare Occasion

My two sisters absolutely love their hard rubber chew toys.  Both Molly and Sadie can be found gnawing away on the many toys that Wen has provided for us multiple times each day.  I, on the other hand am more of a licker.  I like to lick the floor, the carpet, pillows, quilts. my crate pad, and even the kitchen floor.  My licking sort of drives Wen crazy, especially when Molly and Sadie see me vigorously licking on something and they copy me and join in.  That’s usually the point when Wen puts a stop to the lick fest.

It’s such a rare occasion when I grab a hard chew toy that Wen will take my picture with it as documentation.  It only happens about once a year, because I prefer plush toys, which I can shred in a matter of minutes, but since they don’t last long, that’s why Wen buys the hard chew toys for us.  Confidentially, I’d rather have an edible chew stick than a plush toy or a hard rubber toy any day.  Nothing’s better than something to lick and chew on that has a little flavor!

We Will Follow You….

We Scotties are Wen’s very best buddies.  Wherever she goes in our house, we like to follow her to see what’s up.  Things get particularly interesting when she heads to the kitchen, especially when she goes near our treat jars.  We’d hate to miss out if there’s even the most remote possibility of us scoring a tasty treat!

The most fascinating thing of all for us, though, is when Wen prepares food in the kitchen.  If she’s cooking, the enticing smells lure our super sleuth noses to the kitchen to see what’s happening in there.  After all, those yummy smells are the closest that we’ll get to enjoying people food and we’re going to be there in case something might inadvertantly fall to the floor, like a piece of cheese.  It’s happened before, so it could happen again!

Whatcha cookin’?

One of Those Days

Ever have one of those days when sonething reminds you of a song?  Yep, “It’s just another manic Monday.  I wish it was Sunday ’cause that’s my fun day.”

We Scotties like our Sundays, because they seem to be the most easy going relaxed days.  In comparison, today is “just another manic Monday” and we’re back on our weekday schedule.  I guess that one advantage of being a dog, though, is that we can take it easy when our humans are rushing around and even on manic Mondays, you can probably find us snoozing on the couch.

Beep Beep

We have a new toy and it’s a good one!  Wen brought us Scotties a Star Wars toy that beeps and twirls erratically.  She put the toy on our kitchen floor and as soon as it moved, we had to check it out and chase it.  That darn toy had us running all over, trying to attack it as it beeped at us.  What do three Scotties plus one beeping twirling toy equal?  Free entertainment!

Morning Routine

Every morning, we Scotties have a routine.  No matter if the the sun is shining, it’s raining, or it’s snowing, the first thing we do is go and run around outside.  Then, Wen calls us inside to eat, which we are very eager to do.  Next, we go back outside for a little bit and after that, we either end up on the couch or have a nice chew session with our toys during the time that Wen eats breakfast.  After that, it’s time for our daily teeth and haircoat brushing, which is not our favorite part of our morning routine, but it is something that Wen is adamant about.

Are we ever going to vary our morning routine?  Probably not, but at least at the end of it, we Scotties look good and we have nice breath!

Do we HAVE to get brushed???

Visiting Day

Every Wednesday morning, Wen takes my sister, Sadie, to the nursing home.  One of Wen’s friends from Scottie club has been living there for over a year and she had Scotties for decades, but when she got cancer, she had to give up her dog.  This lady appreciates Sadie’s visits so much that Wen and Sadie visit her every week and they have brought smiles, not only to Wen’s friend, but to a lot of the other residents also.

It is truly amazing how one little dog’s visits can bring so much cheer to people and make a difference in their lives and that is exactly why Wen and Sadie will continue their weekly visits to the nursing home.

Little Alligators

Whenever Wen opens the treat jar, we Scotties come running.  We immediately begin to jump up and down with excitement like hungry little alligators.  At that moment, there’s only one thing on our minds and that is to grab a tasty treat.

Usually, Wen tosses the treats to us and we snap them up with our little alligator jaws.  Sometimes though, one of misses catching a treat that is meant for us and another one of us snarfs it up.  When that happens, we put on our best sad or our best anxious face so that she will toss another one to us to make up for our buddy’s speedy indiscretion.  It’s only fair, after all, because we have a Scottie equal opportunity house!

Molly: Sadie ate my treat.
