There’s Snow Place Like Home.

After our recent blast of snow, we Scotties are enjoying our backyard explorations.  We completed plowing a track around the yard, so now we can run circles around the entire yard.  Snow days are fun days for us and the sign that Wen found speaks the truth:  There’s Snow Place Like Home.

Springtime Blizzard

Yesterday, it was nice and warm but today, we have a blizzard!  Yep, spring has sprung and brought us winter weather.  As a matter of fact, this is shaping up to be the biggest snowstorm of the year when yesterday, our neighbors were enjoying their hot tub as if it were the middle of summer.

We Scotties had a great time nosing around our backyard while Wen shoveled the snow off our deck several times, but we enjoyed coming back inside and soaking up heat from the fireplace even more.  There’s nothing like a good snooze by the fire during a springtime blizzard!

Sneaky Sneakers

We Scotties get accused of sneaking around every once in awhile.  There’s honestly not that much sneaking going on unless SOMEBODY leaves a paper towel or a tissue within easy grabbing distance and when that scenario occurs, we sneaky little sneakers will slowly sneak our way toward the object of our desire, with the hope that Wen doesn’t look up and catch us in the act.  More often than not, she catches us mid-sneak and we get a warning, but sometimes, I’m so sneaky that I can grab a paper towel and run and then try to chew it up before Wen sees me and takes it away.  We sneaky sneakers love our paper products, even though they’re not good for us!

I am NOT sneaking around!

Another Stink Eye Master

Back in the day, Sunny was the master of the stink eye.  She could give you the most scathing look with her big brown eyes.  Now, it seems as if Sadie has mastered the art of the stink eye.  She doesn’t do it often, but when she gives you the stink eye, it’s really obvious!

Morning Watch

My sister, Molly, likes to sit on our staircase landing.  From there she has a comfortable spot to watch what is going on downstairs.  Since she usually can be found up there in the morning, Wen likes to say that Molly is on her morning watch, although in reality, Molly probably just likes to hang out up there.

My Sisters

There has been a different doggie family dynamic since we lost our sister, Sunny.  Now that there are three of us Scotties, instead of four and we don’t have our leader anymore, my sisters and I have become a little closer.  Sadie is still her same goofy friendly self and I am my usual laid back self, but Molly has become less shy and she has even shared the couch with Sadie a few times.  To see the two of them hanging out together is something new, because Sadie and I have always shared our dog bed and we normally hang together on the couch, but Molly and Sadie together?  No way!

Maybe Molly and Sadie haven’t been besties because they’re both girls and two girls can be competitive, but they seem to making progress and maybe some day, it won’t be such a rare thing to see those two girls in close proximity of each other.

Our Normal Routine

After each time that we Scotties are groomed, we follow the same routine.  As soon as Wen brings us home, we romp around our backyard and then we all end up on the couch for a snooze.  There is so much activity at the groom shop that in addition to our baths and styling sessions, the time we spend there really seems to wear us out.  Although we gladly interrupt our snooze sessions for dinner, we usually end up back on the couch for the rest of the evening.  There is nothing like the excitement of getting spiffed up and seeing all the dogs at the groom shop for making us couch potatoes for the rest of the day!

Yep, here we are on the couch!

Turned Away

Wen took Sadie to the nursing home yesterday for their weekly visit.  Unfortunately, they were stopped in the reception area and informed that dogs are prohibited from visiting, due to coronavirus precautions.

Sadie had to wait in the car briefly while Wen visited her friend and told her that Sadie won’t be able to come and see her until the restrictions are lifted.  All visitors now have to sign waivers and have their temperature checked before they can even enter, so they are seriously taking precautions to protect the residents.  Sadly, that meant that there won’t be any more wagging tail visitors until further notice!

At least I got to go for a ride….

It’s That Time of Year….

Warm, cold, warm, cold.  It’s that time of year when we get snow overnight and in the morning, the sun comes out and the snow disappears by noon.  One day it’s warm and the next day it’s cold or it’s cold in the morning and it warms up by afternoon, only to get cold again by nighttime.  What crazy spring weather we are having and it’s not even spring yet!

Yesterday, we woke up to several inches of snow and by mid-morning, it was gone.  Go figure!
