Stay Safe!!

With all the uncertainty during the coronavirus pandemic, one thing is for sure:  everyone needs to work together to stay safe!!  Your pets need you to practice social distancing, wash your hands, and use protective gear, such as masks and gloves, to stop the spread of the virus.  Please stay home whenever possible.  We’re here for you and we want you to remain here for us!!

Dire Times

Somebody just ordered new clippers to groom us Scotties at home.  Since our governor has closed pet grooming businesses for weeks, Wen decided to buy some nice clippers to freshen us up, in case we have to miss our scheduled grooming appointments for the next several months.  She’s not an accomplished groomer, but with all her years of vet tech experience, she knows her way around a pair of clippers, so I suppose at least we won’t be looking too horribly shaggy until we can go back to Gigi, our groomer.

Who would have thought several months ago that a horrible virus would have brought dire times for people worldwide and for us dogs too?!

What?! You ordered clippers to groom us at home?

That Darn Cone!

A couple times a year, Sadie will show signs of coming down with an ear infection.  It’s always obvious, because she shakes her head violently and scratches at her ear with a rear foot.

Wen doesn’t want Sadie to shake her head so much that she could break blood vessels in her ear and create an ear hematoma, so at the first telltale signs, she cleans out Sadie’s ears and medicates them.  This usually doesn’t stop the itchiness immediately though, so Wen will get out the dreaded cone and put it on Sadie’s head.  With the cone on, Sadie can’t scratch at her ear with her foot and she can’t shake her head as much either.

After a few hours of wearing the cone, Sadie tends to forget about her ear infection, because the medication has had a chance to start working and the itchiness has calmed down.  She isn’t too thrilled to be walking around with a cone on her head, but as soon as her symptoms have disappeared and Wen can trust her to be honest and not shake her head or scratch at her ear anymore, the cone cones off and Sadie is back to her usual routine.

That darn cone is something that none of us Scotties are fond of, but it sure seems to help out with Sadie’s ear infection discomfort by restricting her activity and she gets over her head shaking and foot scratching obsession much faster than if she wouldn’t wear it.  I hate to admit it, but I guess that darn cone is useful after all!

Darn cone!

Help me!

Oh, well….

A Little Ray of Sunshine

A little ray of sunshine was shining through our bedroom window.  All is a sudden, something happened that was very unusual.  My two sisters, Molly and Sadie, plopped down on the floor in the sunshine right next to each other.  What??!!  Those two are rarely seen close together and it was a real oddity to see them lying on the floor, soaking up the same sun spot.  I guess sometimes we all need a little ray of sunshine and that particular one actually brought the two girls together!

Social Distancing

Here we are at home, just as we normally are, but Wen is not out and about anymore and she is here with us all day long now.  Since we Scotties don’t have the worries of coming down with Covid-19, we are living as usual.  Sometimes, we snuggle up to take a nap,  but most of the time, we like our own space and we practice the social distancing that is recommended for people right now.  Wen may be busy cleaning and disinfecting, but we Scotties are busy hanging out, keeping her company, and doing our regular routine.

Have a great day staying at home and everybody stay safe out there!
