Who’s That Guy?

We received an email the other day that advertised the upcoming annual auction to benefit Scottie rescue.  Then a card arrived in the mail that was a reminder about the auction with the same picture.  Who’s that Scottie guy with the cowboy hat in the pictures?  It’s me, Riley!  What a surprise!

Vacation?

So Wen just picked us Scotties up from the kennel.  We spent two nights there while she and her friend went to Estes Park and stayed at the Stanley Hotel.  Meanwhile, we Scotties stayed at K9 Resorts, which is a really nice boarding facility, but boarding always makes Molly very anxious and Sadie likes to bark her head off the entire time, so no matter how nice the facility is, boarding is stressful for all of us.

Every time we board, we come home exhausted from the experience, but at least this time, we came home smelling great after we all had a bath and now we’ve settled down for a nap.  Vacation?  I’m not so sure.  Maybe we need a vacation from the vacation!

Photo Shoot

Yesterday was a special day for me!  Kris Phillips, the professional photographer we worked with in the past, was in town from Idaho to shoot the winners of this year’s Colorado Pet Pantry calendar contest and she had time for extra photo shoots, so Wen scheduled a photo shoot for me.  This time, she chose Lookout Mountain as the site, as it is so beautiful there and it was the site of my first photo shoot with Kris for winning the Up Country photo contest in 2022.

We first met Kris when she lived in Denver and she knows all kinds of scenic spots that make great photos, so we were excited to meet at Lookout Mountain.  Plus, she is an incredibly talented pet photographer and her photos are stunning!

This time, Kris had me posing with panoramic views in the background, as well as sitting on big rock formations and with wildflowers, so Wen was extremely pleased at the thought of getting to choose from great photos.  Even better, I was a good boy and I posed like a pro—well, 95% of the time!

Now we wait for Kris to wrap up her time here and go home to Idaho where she selects the best photos to show us and Wen decides which photo or photos she wants to select. All in all, this photo shoot was a fun adventure for us with getting to hit the trail up on Lookout Mountain and posing for photos at gorgeous locations.  It really was a special experience!

Ready for an adventure

Chew Sticks

One of my favorite birthday presents that I got this week was a bag of chew sticks.  Of course I had to share with my sisters and all three of us were obsessed with chomping on those yummy sticks.

They weren’t made of rawhide, but instead they were made of compressed chicken and vegetables and were they ever tasty!  All three of us Scotties set to work on those chew sticks like little buzz saws and within minutes, they were gone!

Chomp, chomp, chomp!

Protected Species

Who’s this guy?  He’s taller than me!  Okay, he’s a goose, but he’s also a dog toy.  I have a sneaky suspicion that we Scotties won’t be allowed to play rough with him and rip him to shreds like we normally do with every plush toy we get.  Yeah, this guy probably won’t end up as the usual pile of rubble in the trash since porch geese are a big thing at our house.  He may be a dog toy, but I bet he’s a protected species from us Scotties.

Happy Birthday!

It’s my birthday today and I’m 12 years old!  You can tell it’s going to be a great day, because of the presents and special treats and I’m feeling like a very lucky boy.  Happy Birthday to me!  (And many more!)  Thanks for the celebration!

The Explorer

The intrepid Scottie explorer is anticipating his next adventure.  Okay, that intrepid explorer is me and I’m excited to go explore any territory—new or familiar.  (I suppose you could also call me an archaeologist, as digging is my favorite pastime and I’m quite proficient at it).

Bring on the next quest!  This explorer is ready to go!

Green

This is the time of the year when after some serious rain, things outside really green up.  The lilacs are blooming, the trees have leafed out, and the grass and the bushes are super green.  When you look around, spring has sprung for sure and before we know it, summer will be here!

“What Is That Thing?”

There has been a miniature city of Lego projects taking up lots of space in the office for years and Wen has recently been disassembling them to donate them to Goodwill.  All of the projects were mini architectural renditions of famous cities around the world, except for the tallest one, the Empire State Building.  She put it on the floor to see if we Scotties would check it out and of course we did.  As soon as the girls spotted it, they went right over to it as if they were wondering “What is that thing?”  It didn’t smell intriguing though, so after scoping it out, they were off on their next adventure.
