We Scotties can frequently be found on the couch or the loveseat in various poses. What are we usually doing? Taking a nap! It’s kind of amazing how much of every day that we are napping, but it makes sense when they say that dogs normally sleep 12-14 hours each day. Much of the time though we are not sleeping soundly and we can jump up and be ready for action at any noise.
Since we nap on demand and don’t just sleep one long chunk of time like humans, we have all found our favorite spots for a snooze and 95% of the time, those spots are on the couch or loveseat where it’s soft and comfortable and there’s plenty of room to snuggle up or stretch out. Of course, we also have a nice comfy dog bed by the fireplace, which is a preferred nap spot in the winter when the fireplace is on and in the summer, we sometimes like to stretch out on our tummies on the cool tile floor, but those are seasonal choices.
Why do we dogs like to nap so much? Frankly, it’s because we can!

Hey, you woke me up!

Did I miss any treats?
